Domain Broker Solicitations – Buyer Beware – Trademarks Apply!

Internet Business and Internet Marketing, it all sounds so interesting and easy…

Get an idea, buy a domain name, build a website and the money flows…

Right? ebaydomain1

Maybe…

If the idea is right, the research is sound, the website is optimized and the effort is complete.  Building an Internet business is no less difficult than starting a traditional brick and mortar retail or wholesale business.

Don’t let anyone tell you different!

Lets look at the second step most people take when entering the Internet business world – Buying a Domain Name.

Domain Names – How Much Are They Worth?

There is a large market revolving around the simple Internet domain name.  A commodity usually purchased from a domain name registrar like Godaddy or Register.com for about $9.99 can, if the name is valuable, be resold for hundreds or even millions of dollars.

The following excerpt is from Wikipedia: In an excellent article describing Domain Names:

Domain aftermarket prices and trends

Domain name sales occurring in the aftermarket are frequently submitted to the DN journal. The sales are listed weekly and include the top aftermarket resellers which include but are not limited to Sedo, Traffic (auctions), Afternic, NameJet, Moniker and private sales.

To date, and according to Guinness World Records and MSNBC, the most expensive domain name sales on record as of 2004 were:

  • Business.com for $7.5 million in December 1999
  • AsSeenOnTv.com for $5.1 million in January 2000
  • Altavista.com for $3.3 million in August 1998
  • Wine.com for $2.9 million in September 1999
  • CreditCards.com for $2.75 million in July 2004
  • Autos.com for $2.2 million in December 1999

The week ending January 27, 2008, DNJournal reported that CNN, a cable news channel purchased iReport.com for $750,000. The high price for iReport.com, as in “I Report,” was because it was branded by CNN as CNN’s news crowdsourcing prior to the purchase of the domain name. Likewise, AltaVista was branded as a search engine prior to the high purchase price of the domain name.

Vintage Meld – Combination of Information and eCommerce

iBusinessLogic.com has complete a project for our friend and client Mr. Cliff Aliperti. The site is called http://vintagemeld.com and includes many features not found in many standard WordPress installations.

Vintage Meld

Vintage Meld

While the look and feel are vintage the design and functionality is contemporary.  The site showcases Cliff’s “things and other stuff” business of collecting and selling vintage movie posters, card stock, magazines and more.   Cliff has thousands of these types of items and offers them to the public for sale primarily on eBay and the new and upcoming Bonanzle platform.

Cliff took great interest in our Bonanzle webstore concept, combining wordpress with the functionality and ease of use of the Bonanzle site to make a functional yet simple to operate website which also drives traffic to an eCommerce shopping cart venue.

Most of the product on Vintage Meld is being displayed as a feed from Bonanzle.  This allows Cliff the luxury of only working in Bonanzle to maintain inventory and checkout functions.  Cliff went one step further and asked us to integrate his eBay auction items into this site as well.  Vintage Meld has become a one stop shop for all of Cliff’s customers to search for and find all of his product.  They may choose to buy through either venue as an auction or fixed price and they can read all of Cliffs interesting and informative articles about the movie stars, sports heroes and other famous figures of the late 20th and early 21st century.

Cliff is first and foremost a collector and fan of all of his unique historical and collectible paper goods and movie items.  This new Vintagemeld.com website lets Cliff showcase his favorite passtime and business – collecting. The WordPress CMS platform makes this a perfect solution for Cliff.  With each article he writes about his passion, his business, Cliff brings new traffic to his site from the Search engines.  All Cliff has to do is write about what he loves and not a lot more.  It’s called organic search and it works!

Stop on by http://vintagemeld.com and leave cliff a comment or two on his articles, I am sure he will return the favor! Tale a look around and let us here at http://ibusinesslogic.com/blog
know what you think also.

Indian Rocks Beach Vacation Rentals Website – Just the Ticket for Fun!

iBusinessLogic is proud to be working with the Indian Rocks Beach Vacation board and Ship A Hoey of Indian

Rocks Beach to make their new website.

The site is a cross between a vacation accommodations referral and reservations portal and a local Indian Rocks Beach and Central Florida attractions guide.

We have the initial look and feel of the site installed and some initial beach photos in the scrolling gallery, there is a great deal of content to complete but the site itself is functional and will be ready for public use in less than a week.

A website design like this is suitable for condominiums, small hotels & motels, Chambers of Commerce and local historical societies.  We could also see this look utilized very well for seafood restuarants and beach bars who want a fresh Florida look for their company website.

What do you think? Is this a nice design look?  Keep an eye out for new content and more features in the very near future.
