Thanks for the tip on Bonanzle. With the holidays around the corner we decided to look around and found some rather nice items at great values. Buying the stuff was easy, and so we are looking forward to doing more shopping there. We stopped buying on eBay after searching for unique items that are virtually now non-existent there! What is happening?

Etsy isn't only for handmade items - they have categories for commercial crafting supplies and also vintage items - anything that is 20 years old or older.

The vintage community there is full of sellers who either used to, or still do, sell on eBay. I actually have 2 stores there, and am a member of the Etsy Vintage Street Team.

My sales there don't compare to my sales on eBay, but I do get sales there. And I make nearly 10% more on a sale on Etsy than an equal sale on eBay because their fees are actually REASONABLE!

I'll definitely take our inclusion as a compliment!

The Compete.com graph has consistently been a little "off" of the actual traffic reported by our on-site analytics (actual visitors have grown by at least 300% per month, with 50k in September, already have 50k in October and growing), but on a scale next to Etsy, the difference between 100%, 200% or 1000% monthly grow is pretty insignificant anyhow.

The main point of differentiation between "us" and "them" is the live chatting, the greater simplicity of Bonanzle, and our niche, which doesn't limit sellers to just handmade goods (Bonanzle: "Find Everything but the Ordinary").

That said, to me, Etsy is a site like Amazon where even if they could be considered to "compete" with us to some degree, I think they've done a terrific job with their product and I would have no reservations whatsoever recommending them to anyone looking to buy and sell handmade goods.
